Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Babachir David Lawal, has officially resigned from the All-Progressives Congress (APC), ending his long-standing affiliation with the ruling party.
In a personally signed statement, Lawal confirmed that he submitted his resignation letter to the APC Ward Chairman in Bangshika Ward, Hong Local Government Area of Adamawa State, and his political base.
Though he did not immediately announce his next political destination, the former SGF hinted at aligning with a new movement soon.

“I write to formally notify you of my resignation from the All Progressives Congress (APC),” the letter read.
“In due course, I will make public my current political affiliation, where I plan to join compatriots to work towards making Nigeria a better living place for all citizens. This resignation takes immediate effect.
“Please remain blessed and extend my warm regards to members of your party.”
Lawal served as SGF during the first term of former President Muhammadu Buhari before being relieved of his duties in 2017. Since then, he has remained a vocal figure in national discourse, occasionally criticizing the APC’s internal dynamics and policy directions.
His resignation comes at a time of shifting political alliances ahead of the 2027 general elections.
