FCT Resident Doctors Begin Seven-Day Warning Strike

Resident doctors in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) on Monday embarked on a seven-day warning strike to press home their demands over long-standing issues affecting the health sector.

The action was announced in a communiqué signed by the association’s president, Dr. George Ebong, and members of the executive committee.

According to the doctors, the health sector in the FCT has been severely undermined by deep-rooted structural challenges that require urgent and comprehensive government intervention.

Dr. Ebong noted that doctors in the territory are being overstretched, often compelled to handle multiple departmental responsibilities simultaneously, a situation he described as unsustainable and detrimental to effective healthcare delivery.
