‘I’m Not a Vulture Flying From One Tree to Another,’ Ganduje Dismisses Defection Rumours

The immediate past National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Chairperson of the Board of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has reaffirmed his loyalty to the ruling party, declaring that he is not a politician who moves from one platform to another in pursuit of personal ambition.

Ganduje made the clarification while dismissing as false, mischievous and politically motivated posters circulating on social media alleging that he had defected to the New Democratic Congress (NDC).

In a statement issued on his behalf by his former Commissioner for Information and current Chief of Staff, Comrade Muhammad Garba, the former Kano State governor described the posters as a calculated campaign of misinformation aimed at misleading the public, creating confusion among APC members and generating unnecessary political speculation.

According to the statement, Ganduje remains unwavering in his commitment to the APC and has never contemplated leaving the party, which he previously served as its National Chairman.

“I am not a vulture flying from one tree to another,” Ganduje was quoted as saying, insisting that his political convictions remain firmly rooted in the APC.

He described claims linking him with the NDC as both false and illogical, maintaining that there is no political or logical basis for suggesting that he had abandoned the ruling party.

Ganduje further stated that the APC remains Nigeria’s largest and most formidable political party, adding that it continues to enjoy growing national acceptance under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The statement alleged that the fake posters were the handiwork of desperate political mischief-makers seeking to tarnish Ganduje’s reputation and create unnecessary anxiety within the ruling party.

According to the statement, those responsible for producing and circulating the posters have been identified, warning that unless the materials are immediately withdrawn and further dissemination stopped, appropriate legal action would be instituted against those involved.

Ganduje called on APC members, supporters and the general public to disregard the posters, stressing that they do not represent his political position or intentions.

He also reaffirmed his commitment to working with President Tinubu and the leadership of the APC to consolidate the gains of the Renewed Hope Agenda and further strengthen the party ahead of future political engagements.

The former APC National Chairman urged members of the public to rely only on official statements from him and the appropriate organs of the APC regarding his political activities.
