DMCSA Marks Governor Yusuf’s Birthday With Medical Donation to Schools

The Kano State Drugs and Medical Consumables Supply Agency (DMCSA) has donated drugs valued at ₦1.6 million to the Kano Science Schools Students Association (KASSOSA) and the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) in commemoration of the 63rd birthday of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf. The drugs were presented by the Director General of the Agency, Pharm. Gali Sule, on behalf of DMCSA, as part of activities marking the Governor’s birthday celebration. Pharm. Sule said the donation reflects the agency’s commitment to strengthening healthcare delivery while supporting educational institutions across the state. He noted that the initiative aligns with the Governor’s vision of accessible and affordable healthcare for all residents of Kano State. Kano Police Command Promotes DCP, ACPs, CSPs, Others

The Kano State Police Command has decorated 13 senior officers with higher ranks following their recent promotion approved by the Police Service Commission (PSC). The decoration ceremony was held at the Police Officers’ Mess in Kano and was attended by senior officers of the Command. Those promoted include one Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), four Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs), seven Chief Superintendents of Police (CSPs), and one Superintendent of Police (SP). Among the promoted officers is DCP Muhammad Nuhu Digi, who was elevated from the rank of Assistant Commissioner of Police. Wike Warns APC National Secretary Against Interfering in Rivers Affairs

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has issued a stern warning to the National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Ajibola Basiru, cautioning him against meddling in the political affairs of Rivers State. In a video circulating online, Wike, while addressing supporters at a rally in Oyigbo, Rivers State, accused Basiru of interfering in matters that do not concern him. “Let me tell the National Secretary of the APC, leave Rivers State alone. Because you have heard that N600 billion is in Rivers, you are putting your mouth into what does not concern you,” Wike said. “You are enjoying in Osun State, but you do not know the people that worked for it to be so.” The former Rivers State governor warned against taking the state’s political support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for granted, stressing that careless statements could have serious consequences. The APC official accused of making the remark was identified as Victor Giadom, the party’s Vice Chairman (South-South), who reportedly made the statement at Gokana Local Government Area of Rivers State. “I find it unfortunate that a member of the NWC was referring to a governor in our party as a ‘so-called governor of Rivers State’,” Basiru wrote on Facebook. “The office of the governor is an exalted position, and whoever occupies it must be respected, irrespective of political differences.” Basiru had previously led members of the APC National Executive Committee to Port Harcourt, where they publicly endorsed Governor Fubara for a second term. By Kabiru Sani Maiwanki Dandago (Gwale LGA) The recent pronouncements by Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso regarding Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s strategic political recalibration have finally stripped away the façade, exposing the profound ideological fissures within the NNPP. In a caustic address delivered this January 2026, the Senator characterized the Governor’s newfound autonomy as a “betrayal” more egregious than that of his predecessor, Abdullahi Ganduje. However, in this vitriolic attempt to cast himself as the victim of political infidelity, Kwankwaso inadvertently betrayed a disconcerting truth: he viewed the incumbent administration not as a sovereign executive entity, but as a subordinate instrument of his personal political estate. Senator Kwankwaso’s admission that he expected the Kano State government to function as a “geopolitical centrifuge” to project his hegemony into neighboring territories is remarkably candid. It implies that his patronage of the current administration was never rooted in the socio-economic advancement of the Kano populace, but was instead a cynical stratagem to treat the state’s commonwealth as a private war chest for a singular, ego-driven presidential odyssey. The depth of the Senator’s desperation is now laid bare. His recent public appeal asking anyone with access to the Governor to “beg him to come back” reveals a leader who has finally grasped the magnitude of his loss. This demand is the height of political confusion. The Governorship of Kano is a constitutional mandate belonging to the people, not a government agency or a piece of furniture to be “returned” to a benefactor’s private residence. By resisting this role, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has committed what Kwankwaso perceives as an unpardonable “sin” of independence. His refusal to allow the Kano State treasury to be cannibalized for regional political expansion is a resounding victory for fiscal prudence and administrative transparency. He has chosen to be the custodian of the people’s trust rather than a puppet for personal ambition, and in doing so, he has redefined the essence of leadership in Kano for 2026 and beyond.

As schools resumes today Monday 5th January, 2026 for the commencement of the second term 2025/2026 academic session, the Honourable Commissioner of Education, Prof Aishatu Umar Maigari has appealed to parents and guardians to send their wards back to schools as academic activities commences immediately. The turbaning ceremony was held on Saturday, January 3, 2026, at the office of the Hakimin Tarauni, Alhaji Bello Ado Bayero (Dan Lawan Kano). The venue is located along Zaria Road, opposite the Tarauni Local Government Secretariat. In his remarks, Alhaji Mahe congratulated the newly installed title holders and urged them to conduct themselves with humility, fairness and the fear of God. He cautioned them against pride, stressing that traditional titles are positions of service rather than privilege.
