Hon. Abubakar Bichi Pays N39.6 Million Tuition Fees for 2,423 FCE Bichi Students

The Member representing Bichi Federal Constituency and Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Appropriation, Hon. Abubakar Kabir Abubakar Bichi, has paid the first-semester tuition fees of 2,423 indigent students of the Federal College of Education (Technical), Bichi, for the 2025/2026 academic session.

The tuition payment, amounting to N39,609,041.80, was made through the Late Alhaji Kabir Abubakar Bichi Foundation under the supervision of the lawmaker’s Education Committee.

The initiative forms part of Hon. Bichi’s ongoing education intervention programme aimed at easing the financial burden on students and their families while promoting access to higher education across the constituency.

Presenting the payment certificate to the management of the institution, Chairman of the Education Committee, Dr. Habibu Usman Abdu, expressed appreciation to the lawmaker for his continued investment in education.

According to him, more than 70 percent of students of the institution are currently benefiting from the sponsorship programme, describing the intervention as one of the most impactful educational support initiatives in the constituency.

Dr. Abdu noted that the lawmaker’s commitment to education has continued to create opportunities for young people and contribute significantly to the development of Bichi Federal Constituency.

He added that the free education initiative championed by Hon. Bichi has played a major role in improving access to tertiary education for eligible students from the constituency.

In his remarks, the Acting Provost of the Federal College of Education (Technical), Bichi, Dr. Kabir Musa Bichi, commended the lawmaker for his unwavering support to the institution.

He stated that Hon. Abubakar Kabir Bichi’s interventions have contributed immensely to the growth of the college, helping it become one of the institutions with the highest student enrolment in the country.

Dr. Kabir also praised the Education Committee for its dedication and commitment to ensuring the success of the programme.

He urged parents and students to continue praying for the lawmaker and encouraged beneficiaries to remain focused on their studies and strive for academic excellence.

The provost stressed that the investment in education would yield lasting benefits for the students, their families, and the wider society.

He reiterated that educational support programmes such as the one initiated by Hon. Bichi remain critical to human capital development and the overall socio-economic advancement of the constituency.
