Prominent Kebbi politician and All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, Ahmad Musa Jega, has publicly called out popular skit maker Danbello, accusing him of tarnishing the image of Kebbi State and its government through controversial online content. In a press statement issued to journalists, Jega expressed deep concern over what he described as Danbello’s “increasingly provocative” skits, which he claims have ridiculed respected figures and institutions across northern Nigeria. According to Jega, the skit maker’s content has not only mocked religious scholars (Ulamas) and dignitaries from his native Kano State but has also extended its reach to Kebbi, portraying the state and its leadership in a negative light. Suspected thugs on Monday attacked the convoy of former Minister of Justice and Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF), Abubakar Malami, in Kebbi State. Malami, a former chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and now leader of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the state, was said to be on a condolence visit when the incident occurred. Eyewitnesses confirmed that about 10 vehicles were destroyed, while several of Malami’s supporters sustained injuries. Some thugs came out from the APC state headquarters armed with dangerous weapons and stones, attacking and destroying our convoy. The truth is, when it comes to politics in Kebbi State, there is no retreat, no surrender,” Malami alleged. However, the Publicity Secretary of the APC in Kebbi, Isa Assalafy, denied the party’s involvement in the attack, describing the incident as regrettable. “Kebbi is a peaceful state. No government that enjoys massive support from the people and is confident of victory in 2027 would want the peace of the state to be disrupted,” Assalafy said. He further alleged that security personnel attached to Malami’s convoy fired shots during the confrontation, a development he claimed escalated the situation.

Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State has approved the appointment of Sanusi Mika’ilu Sami as the new Emir of Zuru. His appointment follows the death of the former Emir, Muhammad Sani Sami Gomo II, who passed away on August 16, 2025, at a London hospital. Presenting the appointment letter on Thursday in Zuru, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Garba Dutsin-Mari, said the decision was based on the recommendation of the Zuru Emirate election committee. Meanwhile, Governor Idris has defended President Bola Tinubu against criticism over the nation’s security challenges, saying those who served under former President Muhammadu Buhari lack the moral right to fault Tinubu’s handling of the situation. Speaking during a special prayer at Government House, Birnin Kebbi, to mark the 34th anniversary of the state’s creation, the governor stressed that insecurity predated the current administration. He revealed that during recent security concerns in southern Kebbi, he sought federal support, leading to the deployment of 10 armoured personnel carriers to the affected areas. Idris also cautioned some Abuja-based politicians of Kebbi origin against politicizing security issues, noting that the federal government has been responsive whenever his state faced crises.
