GOC 3rd Division Decorates Newly Promoted Captains, Urges Discipline and Financial Prudence

The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 3 Division and Commander of Operation SAFE HAVEN (OPSH), Major General Folusho Oyinlola, on Friday presided over the decoration ceremony of newly promoted Captains in a colourful event held at the Rhino Officers Mess in Jos, Plateau State.

The event brought together senior officers from 3 Division and OPSH, as well as the families, friends, and colleagues of the promoted officers.

In his remarks, Major General Oyinlola congratulated the officers on their elevation, describing the promotion as a reward for professionalism, discipline, and dedication. He reminded them that the new rank comes with greater expectations and urged them to remain focused, invest in self-development, and embrace financial discipline.

“Captains form the backbone of the Nigerian Army’s operational structure. Your conduct must reflect the highest standards of regimentation and commitment,” the GOC said, while also commending the families of the officers for their support and sacrifices.

Speaking on behalf of the decorated officers, Captain Umar Isah expressed gratitude to the Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen OO Oluyede, for approving their promotions. He also thanked the GOC and senior commanders across the division for their mentorship and leadership.

“We are honoured by this recognition and pledge our continued loyalty to the Nigerian Army,” Captain Isah said. He also paid tribute to the families of the officers, acknowledging the crucial role they play in supporting military personnel.

Among those decorated were Capt. UF Isah, Head of the Dental Department at 3 Division Medical Services and Hospital; Capt. P Ambe of Command Secondary School Jos; Capt. EO Udo of the 3 Division Ordnance Services; Capt. OJ Afesojaye of the 43 Engineers Brigade; Capt. AC Chukwuma, Catering Officer for OPSH; and Capt. CV Anele and Capt. SS Barka, both of the 3 Division Army Public Relations Unit.

The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks, group photographs, and a special presentation to one of the newly promoted officers who is due for redeployment upon completing her posting with OPSH.
