A 25-year-old businessman, identified as Abdulmalik, has reportedly been stabbed to death by suspected phone snatchers while returning home from Na’ibawa to Sabon Titi in Kano State.

The incident reportedly occurred after Abdulmalik delivered goods purchased from his business to a customer.

According to reports, the suspected attackers allegedly stabbed him in the neck while attempting to snatch his mobile phone.

A relative of the deceased, Sadiq Alkantara, who confirmed the incident, said Abdulmalik operated a business that involved delivering goods directly to customers at locations of their choice.

Sadiq said a tricycle rider later found Abdulmalik lying critically injured on the road and rushed him to Ja’een Hospital for medical attention.

“A tricycle rider found him on the road in critical condition and rushed him to Ja’en Hospital for treatment,” he said.

However, Sadiq alleged that medical personnel at the hospital requested the presence of a police officer before commencing treatment.

He said Abdulmalik died before the police officer arrived at the hospital.

“The family does not know the identities of those who attacked him,” Sadiq added.

The deceased was subsequently buried according to Islamic rites.

As of the time of filing this report, the Kano State Police Command had not issued an official statement confirming the incident or the circumstances surrounding the death.

The incident has renewed concerns over phone snatching and attacks on residents in parts of Kano, with security agencies continuing efforts to arrest and prosecute suspected offenders.
