NAF launches search-and-rescue operation after ATR-42 crash in Ondo
The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has activated an immediate search-and-rescue operation following an ATR-42 aircraft accident in the Igbokoda area of Ondo State.
The accident occurred on Monday, October 5, 2026, while the aircraft was reportedly on a routine mission from Benin to Lagos, according to a statement issued by the NAF.
The Air Force said its search-and-rescue operation was being conducted in coordination with relevant authorities and emergency response agencies.
“The Nigerian Air Force has activated an immediate Search and Rescue operation following an ATR-42 aircraft accident in the Igbokoda area of Ondo State on 5 October 2026,” the statement said.

The NAF said the search-and-rescue efforts were ongoing, adding that it was committed to ensuring the success of the operation.
It did not provide details on the circumstances surrounding the accident or confirm the number or condition of people who may have been on board.
The statement was signed by Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, Director of Public Relations and Information, NAF Headquarters.
The Air Force said further details would be communicated in due course.
