Supreme Court Nullifies PDP National Convention Held in Ibadan

The Supreme Court has invalidated the national convention of the Peoples Democratic Party held in Ibadan, Oyo State, on November 15 and 16, 2025.

In a split decision delivered on Thursday, three out of five justices of the apex court ruled that the appeal filed by the faction led by Tanimu Turaki lacked merit.

Delivering the majority judgment, Justice Stephen Adah held that the appellants acted in violation of a subsisting order of the Federal High Court which restrained them from proceeding with the planned convention.

The court found that the action of going ahead with the convention despite the existing court order undermined due process and could not be sustained under the law.

The ruling effectively nullifies all decisions and outcomes arising from the said convention, dealing a significant blow to the party’s internal processes.
