The Federal Government has declared Friday as a public holiday to mark this year’s International Workers’ Day celebration.
The announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on behalf of the Federal Government.
In a statement issued by the Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Magdalene Ajani, the minister congratulated Nigerian workers on the occasion, commending their contributions to national development.
Tunji-Ojo praised workers across the country for their dedication and hard work, noting that their efforts remain vital to the nation’s growth and prosperity.

He urged workers to embrace patriotism, productivity, and commitment to their duties, describing these values as essential for sustainable development.
The minister also reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to improving the welfare and security of workers, while creating an enabling environment for economic growth.
While wishing workers a successful celebration, he called on Nigerians to remain peaceful and law abiding, and to use the occasion to reflect on the importance of unity and hard work in nation building.
