The Kano State Fire Service says it rescued 34 people and saved properties valued at more than N437 million during emergency operations carried out across the state in May 2026.
The agency, however, disclosed that 13 persons lost their lives as a result of fire outbreaks, road traffic accidents, and other related emergencies recorded during the period.
The Public Relations Officer of the Service, Assistant Chief Fire Superintendent (ACFO) Saminu Abdullahi, disclosed this in a statement, noting that the agency responded to a total of 58 fire incidents, 15 rescue operations, and seven false alarms between May 1 and May 31, 2026.

According to him, the emergency responses were coordinated through the Service’s 30 fire stations spread across the 44 local government areas of Kano State.
He said the operations formed part of the agency’s ongoing commitment to safeguarding lives and property across the state.
Commenting on the development, the Director of the Kano State Fire Service, Alhaji Sani Anas, commended firefighters for their dedication and professionalism in responding to emergencies.
He said the achievements recorded during the month reflected the commitment of personnel to protecting residents and their properties despite the challenges associated with emergency response operations.
The Director also called on members of the public to adopt fire prevention measures and remain safety conscious at all times.
He further urged residents to properly cover wells, ponds, and other hazardous water bodies to prevent avoidable accidents and loss of lives.
Anas reiterated the agency’s commitment to improving emergency response services and strengthening public awareness on safety measures across Kano State.
