Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has approved a major restructuring of his advisory team, reassigning several serving Special Advisers and appointing new ones as part of efforts to strengthen governance and improve service delivery across Kano State.
The development was disclosed in a statement issued on Thursday by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa.
As part of the reshuffle, Akibu Isa Murtala, who previously served as Special Adviser (Administration) in the Governor’s Office, has been reassigned as Special Adviser on Human Resource.
The governor also approved the scrapping of the offices of Special Adviser on Domestic Affairs and Special Adviser on Liaison Offices (Abuja), with the affected officials redeployed to other strategic positions.

Under the new arrangement, Habiba Mustapha Barwa, former Special Adviser on Domestic Affairs, has been reassigned as Special Adviser on Special Duties (Women), while Hon. Umar Uba Akawu, who served as Special Adviser on Liaison Offices, Abuja, is now Special Adviser, Cabinet Office (Political).
Other reassignments include Ibrahim Adam, formerly Special Adviser on Information, who has been redeployed as Special Adviser on Social Media, and Nasiru Isa Dikko, former Special Adviser on Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), who is now Special Adviser on Empowerment.
Governor Yusuf also approved the appointment of Bello Nuhu Bello as Special Adviser on Administration, Governor’s Office. Bello previously served as Senior Special Assistant on Administration to the Governor.
Similarly, Hon. Ahmed Muhammad Aruwa, the immediate past Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State, has been appointed Special Adviser on Publicity, while Hon. Buhari Sule Kura was appointed Special Adviser on NGOs.
Hon. Yahuza Ado Yankaba was elevated from Senior Special Assistant to Special Adviser on Motor Parks.
Other newly appointed Special Advisers include Hon. Ahmed Tijjani Musa, Hon. Ibrahim Hamisu Rimi, Mustapha Abdullahi Rabiu Kura, Engr. Bashir Abdullahi Kutama, Hon. Naziru Abdullahi Karaye and Hon. Tahir Ado Rabiu.
Governor Yusuf said the restructuring was designed to enhance administrative efficiency and ensure government institutions remain aligned with the priorities of his administration.
He congratulated the appointees and urged them to justify the confidence reposed in them through dedication, loyalty and commitment to public service.
The governor further reminded them that public office is a trust that must be used to advance the development of Kano State and improve the welfare of its citizens.
According to the statement, officials affected by the scrapping of advisory offices are to report to the Secretary to the State Government (SSG) for further briefing, while the specific portfolios of some newly appointed advisers will be announced upon the governor’s return to the country.
