Tragedy struck in Kano State, Nigeria, when a fire broke out at a family home in Kundila Layin Baba Impossible, Tarauni Local Government Area, claiming the lives of four family members. The victims, Sodangi (43), his wife Rafi’a (30), and their daughters Mardiya (3) and Yusira (1.5), were trapped inside the burning building and died from the flames.
The fire, which was reported at 4:13 a.m., destroyed two bedrooms, a parlour, a kitchen, and a toilet. A 12-year-old boy, Aminu Sodangi, was rescued alive by firefighters.

According to the Kano State Fire Service, the fire was likely caused by a mosquito coil the family had lit before going to sleep. The Fire Service is urging residents to exercise caution when handling fire-related materials, especially during the harmattan season.
