The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has confirmed that an Enugu Air flight suffered a nose-landing gear malfunction while touching down at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu, after departing Lagos.
In a statement signed by Henry Agbebire, Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, the incident occurred around 19:10 hrs on Thursday as the aircraft approached Runway 8.
The plane, with registration number SN-BZN, reportedly came to a halt on the runway and became immobile moments after landing. Agbebire further confirmed that the aircraft belongs to Enugu Air.
“Emergency response teams were immediately mobilised and were on scene to ensure the safety of occupants and to secure the aerodrome,” the statement read.

“FAAN’s airport emergency resources, including fire tenders and medical standby, were deployed as standard procedure. All passengers and crew were safely disembarked and evacuated to the terminal using apron buses. The evacuation was completed without injury at 19:48 hrs.”
FAAN added that its Aerodrome Rescue and Firefighting Services (ARFFS) were already positioned at the site while the aircraft and airside were fully secured. The authority reiterated that the safety of passengers, crew, and airport stakeholders remains its top priority, noting that additional details will be released once verified.
Thursday’s scare comes barely four months after Enugu Air was formally launched by the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo.
