The Association of Former Local Government Chairmen in Kano State (ALGON Integrity Group) has dismissed a report circulating on social media claiming that its members endorsed the Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau I. Jibrin, as the preferred APC governorship candidate for 2027.
In a statement, the Chairman of the Association and former Chairman of Kumbotso Local Government, Hon. Hassan Garban Kauye Farawa, described the report as false, baseless, and fabricated. He urged APC members in Kano and nationwide to disregard what he called deliberate misinformation.
Farawa explained that at the exact time the alleged endorsement meeting was said to have taken place in Abuja, most of the former chairmen were in Kano State attending their routine periodic meeting.

“It is surprising and frankly laughable that anyone would claim we held a meeting in Abuja while we were clearly in Kano,” he said.
He noted that the APC in Kano has a clear leadership structure under the former Governor of Kano State and former National Chairman of the APC, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje (Khadimul Islam), who remains the political leader of the party in the state. He stressed that only the party’s recognized leadership has the authority to determine procedures and guidelines for selecting candidates ahead of the 2027 elections.
Farawa condemned attempts by individuals or groups to create confusion within the party, describing such actions as divisive and counterproductive. He urged party members to remain united and focused on strengthening the APC ahead of the next general elections.
The disclaimer follows similar denials recently issued by former members of the Kano State House of Assembly and former commissioners who served under Dr. Ganduje, all of whom also refuted reports suggesting they endorsed Senator Barau for the 2027 governorship race.
