EFCC Grills Former Sokoto Governor Aminu Tambuwal Over Alleged N189bn Withdrawals

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is currently interrogating former Sokoto State Governor and serving senator, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, over alleged fraudulent cash withdrawals amounting to N189 billion.

Sources within the anti-graft agency disclosed that the withdrawals are in violation of the Money Laundering (Prevention and Prohibition) Act, 2022.

Tambuwal, who served as governor from 2015 to 2023 and was Speaker of the House of Representatives between 2011 and 2015, reportedly arrived at the EFCC headquarters in Abuja around 11:30 a.m. on Monday. He was said to have faced a panel of investigators over the alleged financial infractions.

When contacted, EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale declined to comment on the development.
