The assurance was contained in a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bashir Usman. According to the police, a joint security team comprising personnel from the Nigeria Police Force, the military, and local vigilante groups promptly cordoned off and secured the affected area. Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) and Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (CBRN) specialists were also deployed to conduct a detailed assessment of the scene. While a building within the hospital’s staff quarters sustained damage, occupants had evacuated the area before the explosion occurred. The Kebbi State Commissioner of Police has ordered additional tactical deployments to maintain public order and safety. A thorough investigation has been launched to determine the cause of the explosion. Residents are advised to remain calm and avoid the immediate vicinity of the hospital to allow security agencies to operate effectively. The police further stated that updates would be provided as the investigation progresses.

The 25 schoolgirls kidnapped from Government Girls’ Comprehensive Senior Secondary School, Maga, in Kebbi State have regained their freedom. Reliable government and security sources confirmed the development on Tuesday, stating that the girls were rescued earlier in the day and are currently being transported to the Government House in Birnin Kebbi for medical examination and debriefing. “The girls have been freed. They are on their way to the State House,” a senior government official told Daily Post. Security sources, however, indicated that the breakthrough followed intensified joint operations involving the military, police, vigilante groups, and intelligence teams across forest routes in the region. The students were abducted on Monday, November 17, when armed men stormed their boarding school in Maga. Authorities are expected to provide further updates as investigations continue.

The Kebbi State Government has ordered the immediate closure of all public and private secondary schools, as well as all tertiary institutions across the state, following recent security incidents. The directive was contained in a statement jointly signed by the Commissioner for Higher Education, Alhaji Issa Abubakar-Tunga, and the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Dr. Halima Bande, in Birnin Kebbi. According to the commissioners, the decision became necessary due to recent cases of attacks in some parts of the state, prompting the government to take precautionary steps to safeguard students and staff. The commissioners urged all school managements to comply with the directive and assured that a new resumption date will be communicated in due course. 

Minister of State for Defence, Bello Mohammed Matawalle, has arrived in Kebbi State following President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s directive for immediate action over the abduction of 25 schoolgirls from Government Comprehensive Secondary School, Maga. Matawalle touched down at the Sir Ahmadu Bello International Airport, Birnin Kebbi, where he was received by a military guard of honour mounted by troops of the Nigerian Army. He arrived in company of senior military personnel and was later escorted by a government delegation to the Presidential Lodge, where he is expected to coordinate high-level security engagements. The Minister’s visit marks a significant Federal Government intervention aimed at strengthening search-and-rescue operations, improving intelligence coordination, and enhancing security deployment across vulnerable communities in Kebbi State. The Kebbi State Police Command has confirmed that armed bandits abducted 25 female students from Government Girls’ Secondary School, Maga, in Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area. The attack occurred around 4 a.m. on Monday when heavily armed assailants stormed the school hostel, shooting sporadically. During the invasion, one staff member was killed, while another sustained injuries. Despite an exchange of gunfire with police officers on duty, the attackers overpowered security and whisked the students away. Police spokesperson CSP Nafi’u Abubakar Kotarkoshi said the attackers gained entry by scaling the school’s perimeter fence. He identified the deceased as the school’s Deputy Principal, Hassan Makuku, while another staff member, Ali Shehu, was injured in the arm. Bandits launched a devastating early morning attack on the Government Girls Comprehensive Senior Secondary School (GGCSS) in Maga, Danko Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State, resulting in the death of the school’s Vice-Principal and the abduction of an unspecified number of students. ​The deceased Vice-Principal, Hassan Yakubu Makuku, was reportedly killed while attempting to shield his students from the attackers. ​A local resident of Maga, Aliyu Yakubu, confirmed the incident, stating the bandits invaded the school around 5:00 a.m. on Monday. The attackers met no resistance, according to the resident.
