The Kano State Drugs and Medical Consumables Supply Agency (DMCSA) has donated drugs valued at ₦1.6 million to the Kano Science Schools Students Association (KASSOSA) and the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) in commemoration of the 63rd birthday of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf. The drugs were presented by the Director General of the Agency, Pharm. Gali Sule, on behalf of DMCSA, as part of activities marking the Governor’s birthday celebration. Pharm. Sule said the donation reflects the agency’s commitment to strengthening healthcare delivery while supporting educational institutions across the state. He noted that the initiative aligns with the Governor’s vision of accessible and affordable healthcare for all residents of Kano State. Sule said. Representatives of KASSOSA and SUBEB, who received the items, expressed appreciation to the agency for the timely intervention, describing it as a boost to ongoing efforts aimed at promoting student health and improving basic healthcare services in schools. They also commended the state government and DMCSA for sustaining public health initiatives that directly impact learners and communities. The donated items comprise essential medications intended to address common health conditions and support routine healthcare needs within educational environments. DMCSA reaffirmed its commitment to efficient drug supply, quality assurance, and partnerships that enhance healthcare delivery across Kano State.

The Kano State Government has reiterated its strong commitment to improving healthcare delivery across the state, with particular focus on child nutrition and welfare — described as the foundation for healthy child development. The Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, made this known during a community sensitization campaign on exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months of a child’s life, held at Dokasoye Primary Health Centre in Garun Malam Local Government Area. A statement issued by the Zonal Information Officer, Tudun Wada Zone, Salisu Kassim, and made available to newsmen, noted that the Commissioner was represented by the Director of Planning in the Ministry, Alhaji Ibrahim Hussaini. Comrade Waiya explained that the campaign was organized to enlighten parents, community leaders, civil society organizations, and other stakeholders on the importance of exclusive breastfeeding and to encourage their active participation in promoting the initiative. In his goodwill message, the Chairman of Garun Malam Local Government Council, Barrister Salisu Kadawa, represented by the Council Secretary, Jamila Uba Mustapha, expressed delight that the state government selected the area to host the important event. He pledged the council’s continued cooperation and support toward the success of the programme. Also speaking, Mrs. Aisha, a representative of the State Ministry of Health and an officer in charge of Human Nutrition, delivered a detailed lecture on the benefits of exclusive breastfeeding during the first six months of life. She emphasized that proper breastfeeding enhances immunity, supports healthy growth, and promotes the overall wellbeing of infants. In his remarks, the District Head of Garun Malam, Sarkin Fulani Jaidanawa, Alhaji Abubakar Gwadabe, represented by the Village Head of Dagasoye, Dandano Ibrahim Yada Kwari, urged community and religious leaders to support government initiatives aimed at improving child health and nutrition. The event was attended by notable personalities, including the representative of the Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Alhaji Sadiq, the Spokesperson of the Councilors, Aliyu Abdulhamid, and the Head of Personnel Management of Garun Malam Local Government, Alhaji Umar Kura.
