The Kano Science Schools Old Students Association (KASSOSA) has organized its 15th Ramadan Iftar gathering for members in Kano as part of efforts to strengthen unity and promote the spirit of the holy month.

President of the association, Balarabe Nuhu Jalla Dambatta, said the gathering was organized to seek spiritual reward and extend the values of Ramadan to members and the wider Muslim community.

He explained that the annual Iftar provides an opportunity for members from different class chapters to reunite, reconnect and strengthen the bond among those who studied together in the various science schools.

According to him, such gatherings help keep the association active and vibrant, encouraging members to continue participating in its activities.

Jalla therefore urged members to always attend the event or at least send representatives from their respective class chapters to witness and experience the memorable occasion.

Earlier, a member of the Iftar organizing committee, Auwalu Rabi’u Spikin, said this year’s gathering targeted about 500 members to break their fast together.

Spikin explained that the Iftar initiative started several years ago when some pioneer members of the association began hosting the gathering in their homes.

According to him, the idea was that one member would host at a time, and another would take the responsibility the following year, making the activity sustainable until it eventually grew into a programme organized by the general association.

He also called on members and other Muslims to continue extending similar gestures to others during Ramadan, noting that acts of kindness and generosity attract great spiritual reward.

Spikin further appreciated the support of individual class chapters and members of the association whose contributions made the gathering successful.

The Kano Science Schools Old Students Association is an umbrella body of former students of science secondary schools in Kano and parts of Jigawa State, and has been in existence for more than 40 years.
