President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the posting of 65 ambassadors whose nominations were confirmed last December, assigning them to Nigerian diplomatic missions across the world.
Among the prominent postings are former Minister of Interior Abdulrahman Bello Dambazau, who has been assigned to Beijing, China; former chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Mahmood Yakubu, who will serve in Qatar; and former ambassador Aminu Dalhatu, who has been appointed High Commissioner to the United Kingdom.
Others include Reno Omokri, posted to Mexico; former aviation minister Femi Fani-Kayode, posted to Germany; and Ondo South senator Jimoh Ibrahim, who will serve as Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations.

In a statement on Friday, Bayo Onanuga said the president had directed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to immediately commence the induction programme for the ambassadors-designate and high commissioners.

The postings form part of the latest additions to Nigeria’s diplomatic corps following earlier assignments announced in January, when Kayode Are, former director-general of the Department of State Services, was designated to the United States.
In the same month, former director-general of the National Intelligence Agency, Ayodele Oke, was posted to France, while Aminu Dalhatu was named High Commissioner-designate to the United Kingdom.
