The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has relieved the Acting Executive Chairman of the Federal Capital Territory Internal Revenue Service (FCT-IRS), Michael Ango, of his duties.
The development was confirmed in a statement issued on Friday by the Senior Special Assistant to the Minister on Public Communication and Social Media, Lere Olayinka.
Following Ango’s removal, the most senior official of the FCT-IRS has been directed to immediately assume leadership of the revenue agency in an acting capacity.

As of the time of filing this report, no official reason had been given for Ango’s sack.
The statement recalled that President Bola Tinubu approved Ango’s appointment as Acting Chairman of the FCT-IRS on August 9, 2024, through an announcement by the former Director of Press in the Office of the FCT Minister, Anthony Ogunleye.
During Ango’s tenure, the FCT-IRS recorded ₦262 billion in revenue for 2024, surpassing its ₦250 billion target and exceeding the ₦211.1 billion collected in 2023.
