The Kebbi State Police Command has confirmed that armed bandits abducted 25 female students from Government Girls’ Secondary School, Maga, in Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area.
The attack occurred around 4 a.m. on Monday when heavily armed assailants stormed the school hostel, shooting sporadically. During the invasion, one staff member was killed, while another sustained injuries. Despite an exchange of gunfire with police officers on duty, the attackers overpowered security and whisked the students away.
Police spokesperson CSP Nafi’u Abubakar Kotarkoshi said the attackers gained entry by scaling the school’s perimeter fence. He identified the deceased as the school’s Deputy Principal, Hassan Makuku, while another staff member, Ali Shehu, was injured in the arm.

Following the incident, the Commissioner of Police, Bello Muhammad Sani, deployed additional police operatives, soldiers, and local vigilante groups to the area for search-and-rescue operations. The police say investigations are ongoing and efforts are being intensified to track the kidnappers’ route and rescue the victims.
The Police Commissioner urged residents to remain calm, assuring that security agencies are working relentlessly to protect lives and property across the state.
