President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of Dr Olugbemisola Titilayo Odusote as the Director-General of the Nigerian Law School for a four-year term, effective January 10, 2026.
This was contained in a statement signed by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, on Tuesday.
Dr Odusote, who is currently the Deputy Director-General and Head of the Lagos Campus of the Nigerian Law School, will succeed Professor Isa Hayatu Chiroma, whose tenure expires on January 9, 2026, after eight years in office. At 54, she becomes the first woman to lead the institution since its establishment in 1962.
She obtained her Bachelor of Laws degree from Obafemi Awolowo University and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1988. She also holds a Master of Laws degree from the same institution, with a specialisation in company and commercial law, and later earned a PhD in Law from the University of Surrey in the United Kingdom. Her research interests include public law and the administration of justice.

Dr Odusote joined the Nigerian Law School in 2001 as a lecturer and has since served in several key academic and administrative roles, including Head of the Academic Department, Director of Academics, and Head of Campus. She also spent a period as a visiting scholar at Nottingham Trent University in the United Kingdom.
She has published extensively in reputable local and international law journals and has presented academic papers at various legal education conferences. In addition, she has served on committees of both the Council of Legal Education and the Nigerian Bar Association.
As Director-General, Dr Odusote will oversee the institution’s academic leadership, administrative management, and strategic direction across all its campuses. She will also serve as the principal liaison between the Nigerian Law School, the Council of Legal Education, the Body of Benchers, and the Nigerian Bar Association.
