Murtala Sule Garo Mourns Passing of Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi

Former deputy governor candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2023 Kano governorship election, Alhaji Murtala Sule Garo, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of renowned Islamic scholar, Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi.

The prominent Tijjaniyya leader passed away on Thursday in Bauchi after a brief illness.

In a condolence message, Garo said he received the news of the cleric’s death with profound sadness, describing the loss as a major blow to the Muslim community.

“Inna lillahi wa inna ilaihi raji’un. I received the news of the passing of a pillar of the Muslim world. Sheikh Dahiru Usman’s teachings and his commitment to peace in Nigeria will greatly be missed,” he said.

Garo extended his condolences to the family of the late scholar, his disciples and followers across Nigeria and beyond, urging them to uphold the values and teachings he left behind, especially on tolerance and peaceful coexistence.

He added that Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi had been a longstanding family friend and guide, a relationship that dated back to the era of his late father, Alhaji Sule Garo.

“I pray to Allah the Almighty to forgive his shortcomings and admit him into Jannatul Firdausi,” he said.

Garo condoled with the cleric’s immediate family, disciples, followers and the wider Muslim community.
