The Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Dr. Mariya Mahmoud Bunkure, has assured the West African College of Physicians (WACP) of the FCT Administration’s support for initiatives aimed at strengthening medical education and healthcare delivery.
Dr. Bunkure gave the assurance while receiving a delegation of the WACP, led by Dr. Habibu Galadanci, during a courtesy visit. She commended the professional body for its contributions to advancing medical education, professional standards, and healthcare delivery across the West African sub-region.
She noted that, as the nation’s capital, the FCT remains committed to hosting the 50th anniversary of the West African College of Physicians, describing the event as part of broader efforts to strengthen healthcare systems, build capacity, and improve the wellbeing of residents.

The minister further conveyed the readiness of the FCT Administration, under the leadership of His Excellency Barrister Nyesom Wike, to support programmes and initiatives that promote quality healthcare, medical research, and continuous professional development.
Dr. Bunkure expressed appreciation to the delegation for the visit and reiterated the FCT Government’s commitment to sustained collaboration with professional medical bodies in pursuit of improved health outcomes.
