Katsina and Plateau Govts Order Temporary School Closures Over Insecurity

Katsina and Plateau state governments have announced the temporary closure of schools due to rising insecurity concerns. The decision aims to safeguard students and teachers as security agencies implement new safety strategies.

In Katsina, schools are closed immediately, affecting students currently sitting exams. Commissioner Yusuf Jibia emphasized that protecting lives and property is the top priority, and normal activities will resume once security assessments are completed.

Plateau State’s closure takes effect on different dates: junior model secondary schools close on Saturday, November 22, while primary and day schools shut on Monday, November 24. Richard Jonah, SUBEB’s Public Relations Officer, described the closure as a necessary step to prevent security threats.
