The Kano State Government has expressed deep concern over the arrest of Muhuyi Magaji Rimin Gado, former chairman of the Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission (PCACC), by the Nigerian Police Force.
In a press release, Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Abdulkarim Sulaiman Maude, described the arrest as raising “serious constitutional, legal, and security concerns”. Rimin Gado was arrested at his law office on Zaria Road, Kano, without a warrant, and taken to Abuja.
The government questions the timing and manner of the arrest, citing ongoing high-profile investigations involving politically exposed persons from Kano State, and a court order restraining the police from arresting him.
