In swift response to public concerns surrounding the reported bail of a suspected drug baron, Sulaiman Aminu Dan Wawu, by the Kano State Commissioner for Transportation, Hon. Ibrahim Ali Namadi, the state government has inaugurated a high-powered eight-member investigative committee.
The committee was formally inaugurated on Sunday, July 27, 2025, at the Cabinet Office by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Alhaji Umar Faruk Ibrahim, on behalf of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.
According to a statement issued by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the committee has been tasked with investigating the circumstances surrounding the bail incident and submitting its findings and recommendations to the government within one week.

The investigative committee is chaired by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Justice and Constitutional Matters, Barrister Aminu Hussaini.
Other members include Barrister Hamza Haladu, Barrister Hamza Nuhu Dantani, Major General Muhammad Sani (rtd), Director-General of the Special Services Directorate, Comrade Kabiru Dakata, and Professor Mamun Mustapha of Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology, Wudil. Alhaji Abdullahi Mahmud Umar, Commissioner II in the Civil Service Commission, is also a member.
Hajiya Bilkisu Shehu Mai Mota, Permanent Secretary in charge of Administration and General Services in the SSG’s Office, will serve as the Secretary of the committee.
While inaugurating the panel, the SSG expressed confidence in the competence and integrity of the committee members, noting that their selection was based on merit, experience, and commitment to public service.
In his remarks on behalf of the committee, Chairman Barrister Aminu Hussaini commended the state government for taking prompt action and pledged that the committee would discharge its mandate with professionalism, transparency, and a high sense of responsibility.
The outcome of the investigation is expected to shape the government’s response to the growing concerns over the incident, which has generated intense public interest across the state.
