The Federal Government has finalized a comprehensive agreement with the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), promising improved remuneration and stability in tertiary institutions.
The Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, presented the agreement in Abuja, framing it as the culmination of President Bola Tinubu’s direct intervention.

Key provisions include a significant review of remuneration for academic staff, a Consolidated Academic Tools Allowance, and a Professorial Credit Allowance for senior academics.
The agreement addresses conditions of service, university funding, autonomy, and academic freedom, and takes effect from January 1, 2026.
