The Federal Government has commenced the second phase of payments under the N35,000 wage award scheme for federal civil servants, according to a statement released on Friday by the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation (OAGF).
The payment follows an earlier disbursement, marking the settlement of two out of the five months in arrears. This leaves three more tranches yet to be paid.

In the statement signed by the Director of Press and Public Relations, Bawa Mokwa, the OAGF dismissed reports suggesting a halt in the payment process and reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to honouring the agreement.
“Contrary to insinuations in some quarters, the Federal Government has not reneged on the payment of the wage award arrears,” the statement said. “Payments will continue in monthly instalments of N35,000 until the backlog is fully cleared.”
The wage award was introduced as part of a broader relief package to support federal workers amid rising inflation and the economic impact of subsidy removal.
