The Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau I. Jibrin, visited the training ground of Barau Football Club on Monday as the team prepares for the 2025 Nigerian National League (NNL) Super Eight Playoffs. Accompanied by the Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, Hon. Yusuf Abdullahi Atta; his Chief of Staff, Professor Muhammad Ibn Abdullah; and Special Adviser on Youth and Sports, Kabiru Ado Lakwaya, Senator Barau commended the players for their performance and announced a donation of ₦2 million to the club as a Sallah gift. In a statement by the club’s Media Officer, Ahmad Hamisu Gwale, the senator expressed pride in the club’s achievements and assured continued support until Barau FC secures promotion to the Nigerian Premier Football League (NPFL). My vision is to see this club among the top teams in Nigeria and eventually in the world. By the grace of God, I will support you in every possible way to gain promotion to the NPFL,” he said. The club’s management, led by Chairman Ambassador Ibrahim Shitu Chanji, welcomed the senator alongside other board members, including Alhaji Abdul AP, Sporting Director Yahya Muhammad, Club Secretary Umar Lawan, and Curator Aliyu Lawan. Also present were Technical Adviser Rabi’u Tata, Chief Coach Madu Muhammad, Assistant Coach Surajo Mukhtar, and Goalkeeper Trainer Babangida Muhammad. Speaking on behalf of the players, team captain Usman Maidubji expressed heartfelt appreciation for Senator Barau’s continued support, describing it as a vital motivator for the team. Barau FC is currently intensifying preparations for the NNL Super Eight Playoffs, where eight clubs will vie for promotion to the top tier of Nigerian football in the upcoming season.
