The Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the One Kano Agenda, stressing that unity and collective responsibility are essential to restoring the state’s lost glory and driving sustainable development. The governor, who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Umar Farouk Ibrahim, said the initiative would receive the full cooperation of the state government, noting that the present moment demands solidarity among Kano people. He urged residents to reflect on Kano’s status four to five decades ago, when the state was a reference point in education, commerce, agriculture, youth development, cultural values, and strong traditional institutions admired across the country. According to him, reclaiming Kano’s historic position requires deliberate efforts and cooperation across political, social, and cultural lines. He added that unity would also help tackle key challenges such as drug abuse, while fostering peace and shared prosperity in the state. The SSG disclosed that the NNPP-led administration has so far achieved about 85 per cent of its campaign promises, assuring that the remaining 15 per cent would be completed. He further revealed that ahead of the 2026 pre-election period, the government plans to renew and expand its development commitments to ensure a more prosperous Kano. He highlighted the administration’s intervention for senior citizens and pensioners who dedicated their lives to the state, and announced plans to extend similar gestures to former local government chairmen and councillors who served between 2014 and 2023. The stakeholders engagement meeting attracted the participation of youth associations, civil society organisations, and other groups, with discussions centred on Kano’s development and practical steps toward addressing its social and economic challenges.

A High Court in Kano under Justice Zuwaira Yusuf has issued a restraining order against Ganduje Foundation, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje and Haroun Ibn Sina over their plan to establish an independent Hisba Fisabilillah. Other defenders in the suit included, Kano Police Commissioner and other security agencies in the state. This followed a lawsuit filed before the court by Northern Youth Assembly ( NYA), Majalisar Matasan Arewa, challenging the formation and operation of any independent Hisba body. Barrister Badamasi Sulaiman Gandu explained that, security agencies included in the suit are to ensure compliance of the order. The counsel said, Justice Zuwaira Yusuf has adjourned the case till 30th of December 2025 for further hearing.

The Kano State Police Command has launched an investigation into the killing of a resident, Ladan Malam Zubairu, at Yusuf Garko Mosque in Maraba Hotoro Quarters, Kano. The incident was confirmed in a statement issued today Monday by the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa. According to the statement, the victim was attacked and killed by an unknown assailant within the mosque premises. Eyewitness accounts indicated that the suspect was immediately pursued by an angry mob and subsequently lynched. The police said security operatives were swiftly deployed to the area and normalcy has since been restored. Preliminary investigations revealed that the victim’s severed throat was recovered from the suspect’s pocket. Both bodies were evacuated to the Mohammed Abdullahi Wase Teaching Hospital, Kano, where they were certified dead and are awaiting autopsy. The Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, has directed a comprehensive investigation into the incident with a view to identifying and prosecuting all those involved. The police command cautioned the public against jungle justice and urged residents to remain calm and cooperate with law enforcement agencies by providing relevant information to aid the investigation, assuring that all information would be treated with strict confidentiality.

The Kano Online Media Chapel has congratulated three prominent figures on receiving Awards of Honour from the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Kano State Council. The awardees are Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya; Director-General, Media and Communications to the Kano State Governor, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa; and former Commissioner for Information, Baba Halilu Dan Tiye.
