In a renewed effort to rejuvenate the education sector through improved teaching and learning infrastructure, Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has ordered the immediate and comprehensive rehabilitation of the state-owned College for French and Chinese Languages. The directive followed an unscheduled visit by the Governor to the college, located in Kwankwaso town, Madobi Local Government Area. Speaking during the visit, Governor Yusuf said his purpose was to personally assess the condition of the facilities, as well as the welfare of both students and staff. He commended the impressive performance of the students, particularly their fluency in French and Chinese, but raised concerns about the dilapidated state of the infrastructure. “I’m here on an unscheduled visit to see, firsthand, the living conditions of our students and teachers, as well as to assess the infrastructural state of the school,” Governor Yusuf said. “I am very impressed with the students’ performance, especially their fluency in speaking Chinese. As part of his commitment to promoting academic excellence and encouraging dedication in the education sector, Abdulaziz Abdulaziz, the Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Print Media, has donated N600,000 to students of Muktar Adnan Day Science College, Kano, who scored 300 and above in the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). A proud alumnus of the college, Abdulaziz also donated four bags of rice to the teaching and non-teaching staff of the school, in appreciation of their tireless efforts in nurturing academic excellence. The donation was delivered through Engineer Auwalu on his behalf. The Principal of the college, Malam Abba Tukur Ibrahim, officially received the donation and expressed profound gratitude for the generous gesture. He described the support as not only timely but also highly motivational, especially coming from a distinguished old student who continues to excel in national service. The N600,000 cash donation is intended for students who achieved 300 marks and above in the 2025 UTME, placing them in the top percentile of candidates nationwide. It is expected to aid them as they prepare for admission into tertiary institutions. Speaking during the presentation, Engineer Auwalu emphasized that the initiative reflects Malam Abdulaziz’s deep passion for education and his enduring connection to his alma mater. He noted that the gesture also demonstrates the importance of encouraging academic excellence and supporting the welfare of educators. In addition to the student support, the donation of food items to the school staff was warmly received, with many describing it as a thoughtful acknowledgment of their sacrifices and role in shaping young minds.

The Emir of Gaya, His Royal Highness Alhaji (Dr.) Aliyu Ibrahim Gaya, has approved the appointment of the Vice Chancellor of Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology, Wudil, Prof. Musa Tukur Yakasai as the Sarkin Kudun Gaya. This was disclosed in a statement issued on Wednesday by Malam Abdullahi Datti Abdullahi, Deputy Registrar and Head of the Information and Public Relations Unit of the university, and made available to The Historica Nigeria. According to the letter of appointment with reference number MLG/INS/LGD/166/4, dated 13th June, 2025 and signed by Alhaji Mansur Ibrahim Gaya, the Wamban Gaya and Senior Councillor (Admin.) of the Gaya Emirate Council, the appointment followed the approval of the Kano State Government. In a congratulatory message, the Acting Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof. Nouruddeen Bashir Umar, on behalf of the Chancellor Alhaji Aliko Dangote, Chairman of Council Justice Abdu Aboki (rtd), members of the Council, University Senate, management, staff, and students, extended heartfelt congratulations to Prof. Yakasai, describing the appointment as “well-deserved and a source of pride for the university community.” The statement noted that the date for the turbaning ceremony will be announced by His Royal Highness, the Emir of Gaya, in due course. Prof. Yakasai is currently in Makkah, Saudi Arabia, performing the 2025 Hajj pilgrimage.  

The Kano State Science and Technical Schools Board has formally commended the Principal of Muktar Adnan Day Science College, Kano, Malam Abba Tukur Ibrahim, for his exemplary leadership and unwavering commitment to educational excellence. In a commendation letter dated 29th May 2025 and signed by the Board’s Director of Personnel Management, Abba Muhammad Kurawa, on behalf of the Executive Secretary, the board praised Malam Ibrahim for his significant contributions to the growth and development of the institution. The letter highlighted the principal’s outstanding performance in several critical areas, including infrastructural development, improved academic performance, student discipline, enhanced school-community relations, and promotion of co-curricular activities. These efforts, according to the board, have greatly enriched the learning environment and placed the college on a steady path of progress. The board reaffirmed its appreciation and assured the principal of its highest regard, reiterating its broader mission to enhance science and technical education across Kano State. The Kano State Ministry of Education has announced that all boarding public and private primary and post-primary schools in the state will resume on Sunday, June 15, 2025, following the Eid-El-Kabeer break. According to a statement signed by the Director of Public Enlightenment, Balarabe Abdullahi Kiru, pupils and students in day schools are to resume on Monday, June 16, 2025. The Ministry urged parents and guardians to take note of the resumption dates and ensure full compliance, warning that appropriate disciplinary action will be taken against students and pupils who fail to resume on time.
