Bandits launched a devastating early morning attack on the Government Girls Comprehensive Senior Secondary School (GGCSS) in Maga, Danko Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State, resulting in the death of the school’s Vice-Principal and the abduction of an unspecified number of students.
The deceased Vice-Principal, Hassan Yakubu Makuku, was reportedly killed while attempting to shield his students from the attackers.
A local resident of Maga, Aliyu Yakubu, confirmed the incident, stating the bandits invaded the school around 5:00 a.m. on Monday. The attackers met no resistance, according to the resident.

”The school principal, Makuku, was shot as he tried to protect his students from being taken by the bandits. It’s a great loss for the community and the school,” Aliyu Yakubu said, adding that the attack has created widespread panic and mourning among residents.
Maga, the community where GGCSS is located, has recently faced multiple attacks by armed groups, highlighting the persistent security challenges in the Danko/Wasagu area.
As of the time of filing this report, the Kebbi State Police Command has not released an official statement regarding the incident. The Command’s Public Relations Officer, CSP Nafiu Abubakar, did not respond to multiple calls made to his cell phone.
