
President Bola Tinubu has approved the formation of an Inter-Ministerial Committee to coordinate a state burial for former President Muhammadu Buhari.
The announcement was made on Monday in Abuja via a statement issued by Segun Imohiosen, Director of Information and Public Relations, Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF).
According to the statement, the SGF, Senator George Akume, will chair the committee. Its mandate is to plan and oversee a befitting burial for the late elder statesman.

Members of the committee include the Ministers of Finance, Defence, Budget and Economic Planning, Information, Works, Interior, FCT, Housing and Urban Development, State for Health and Social Welfare, and Arts, Culture and Creative Economy.
Also included are the National Security Adviser, Special Adviser to the President on Policy and Coordination, Senior Special Assistant on Political Matters, the Inspector-General of Police, Director-General of the State Security Service (SSS), and Chief of Defence Staff.
The Office of the Permanent Secretary, General Services Office, will serve as the committee’s secretariat.
President Tinubu also directed all Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) to open condolence registers for members of the public. Central registers for the diplomatic corps and wider public will be available at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Bola Tinubu International Conference Centre in Abuja.
