IGP Disu decorates 30 senior officers, enforces zero tolerance for misconduct

The Inspector-General of Police, Tunji Disu, has decorated 30 senior officers recently promoted to the ranks of Assistant Inspectors-General of Police (AIGs) and Commissioners of Police (CPs).

Force spokesperson, Anthony Placid, disclosed this in a statement on Monday, noting that the decoration ceremony followed the promotion of 84 senior officers, including Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) and Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs).

According to the statement, the IGP described the promotions as a recognition of merit, discipline, and proven capacity, adding that they also represent a strategic investment in leadership aimed at strengthening effective, accountable, and responsive policing across the country.

He charged the newly decorated officers to lead by example, stressing the need to uphold a zero-tolerance policy against indiscipline, corruption, and dereliction of duty within their respective commands.

The police chief further emphasised that respect for human rights and active community engagement remain non-negotiable, highlighting the importance of people-oriented policing.

The IGP also announced that all newly promoted Assistant Inspectors-General of Police would participate in a mandatory Strategic Leadership Retreat commencing Tuesday, March 24, 2026.

The retreat, organised in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), is designed to enhance transformational leadership capacity and promote modern policing ethics among senior officers.

Those decorated as Assistant Inspectors-General of Police include Christopher Ado Emmanuel, Joseph Eribo, Miller Gajere Dantawaye, Henry Ifeanyi Uche, Olanrewaju Peter Ogunlowo, Mohammed Dahiru, Dankombo Faling Morris, Bello Shehu, Ibrahim Balarabe Maikaba, Ahmed Musa, Olohundare Moshood Jimoh, Simeon Udofia Akpanudom, and Haruna Olufemi.

Also decorated were Commissioners of Police including Abdulrahim Audu Shaibu, Sarah Idowu Ehindero, and Rebbecca Uchenna Okereke, alongside other newly promoted officers.
