The Emir of Kano, Dr. Muhammadu Sanusi II, on Thursday participated in a photo session with his classmates shortly after lectures at the Northwest University Kano where he is currently pursuing an undergraduate degree.
The brief moment, which took place on campus after classes, attracted attention from students and staff who described it as a rare display of royal humility and academic camaraderie.
Eyewitnesses said the photo session was carefully organised in line with cultural and traditional norms. Male and female students were photographed separately to ensure modesty and adherence to accepted social standards within the academic environment.
During the exercise, the Emir was seen interacting freely with fellow students, exchanging greetings and posing for photographs without any special protocol or preferential treatment.

A non-academic staff member of the institution, who identified himself simply as Adamu, described the gesture as “a clear sign of humility and respect.”
“Despite his royal status, Emir Sanusi II continues to blend seamlessly into student life,” he said.
The development has since generated positive reactions among students and members of the public, many of whom praised the monarch for balancing his traditional responsibilities with his commitment to education and lifelong learning.
