Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has approved the immediate establishment of a special task force to strengthen security at motor parks and other strategic public locations across the state.
The decision was disclosed in a statement issued on Sunday by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, who said the move forms part of proactive measures to prevent criminal infiltration and enhance public safety, particularly at major entry and exit points within Kano metropolis.
According to the statement, motor parks have been identified as high-risk areas due to heavy human traffic and recent security incidents, including the arrest of suspected miscreants at the Kofar Ruwa Motor Park.

The task force will be responsible for intensified surveillance, intelligence gathering and coordinated security operations at motor parks and other vulnerable locations. Its scope of operation will also extend to filling stations and other public spaces where transient populations frequently converge.
Governor Yusuf explained that the initiative is aimed at neutralising security threats before they escalate, strengthening inter-agency collaboration and restoring public confidence in the state’s security architecture.
He reiterated his administration’s zero-tolerance stance on criminal activities and assured residents that the state government would continue to provide full support to security agencies to safeguard lives and property across Kano State.
