Coaches, officials, and backroom staff of Barau Football Club have expressed outrage over the alleged unexplained deduction of their October and November salaries by the club’s management.
The affected workers said they were shocked to discover that portions of their salaries had been withheld without any communication from the Club President, Shawwal Barau Jibrin, or the General Manager, Dominic Lorfa, who was accused of authorising the deductions.
Since assuming office as General Manager, Lorfa has reportedly come under criticism from players, coaches, and other staff members over what insiders described as an atmosphere of tension, intimidation, and frequent threats, including alleged remarks that he “will sack anyone he likes.”
A reliable source within the club, who requested anonymity, confirmed that the deductions were carried out at Lorfa’s instruction.

Several staff members questioned the rationale behind the salary cuts despite fulfilling their duties diligently, noting that some still have outstanding unpaid entitlements.
One affected staff member said over ₦100,000 was deducted from his October salary with no explanation. He said he initially assumed it was an error, but when the same amount was deducted again in November, he realised it was intentional.
“I doubted it at first when I saw ₦100,000 missing from my October salary. I thought it might be an error. But when the November salary came with the same deduction and still no explanation, I knew something was wrong,” he said.
Another insider alleged that one of Lorfa’s close associates within the coaching crew did not experience any deductions, raising further concerns about fairness and transparency.
Efforts to reach the club’s management for comments were unsuccessful, as calls and messages sent to key officials were not returned.
