Nigeria’s push to reposition its aviation and aerospace sector received a major boost on Thursday as dignitaries, industry experts and international exhibitors converged on the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, for the maiden edition of the Nigeria International Airshow.
A participant at the event, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud Bunkure, commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his commitment to revitalising strategic sectors as drivers of national growth, job creation and global competitiveness. She noted that the historic airshow signifies more than a showcase of aircraft and cutting-edge technology, describing it as a bold demonstration of Nigeria’s readiness to embrace the future of aviation, aerospace engineering and modern mobility.
Dr. Mahmoud added that the successful hosting of the event marks Nigeria’s decisive entry into the global aerospace arena, reinforcing Abuja’s status as a key aviation hub connecting the country to the world.

Also in attendance was the Chairman of the Board of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, who joined other stakeholders in assessing innovations on display and engaging industry leaders on pathways to strengthening Nigeria’s aviation infrastructure.
The event featured exhibitions, technical sessions and strategic engagements aimed at expanding opportunities in commercial aviation, airport development, aerospace technology and defence mobility.
