Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital Launches Free Emergency Ambulance System

The Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital (AKTH) has launched a free Emergency Ambulance System designed to transport patients from their homes to hospitals in cases of emergency.
The Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Professor Abdurrahman Abba Sheshe, announced this today at a press conference in Kano.
Professor Sheshe explained that the initiative was introduced to support the Renewed Hope Agenda of the current administration and to ease healthcare access for the public.

He revealed that the hospital will also cover delivery charges for families unable to afford the cost of childbirth, stressing that no woman should be denied medical attention due to financial constraints.
“People can already testify to our commitment, considering the recent subsidy in dialysis charges which has brought relief to many patients. We have also received medical supplies and equipment that will benefit over 1,000 people,” the CMD added.
Representing the Minister of Health, Professor Muhammad Ali Pate, Dr. Sa’id Ahmad Wakili commended the hospital’s leadership under Professor Sheshe for its proactive approach in improving healthcare delivery.
Dr. Wakili disclosed that the new initiative will deploy both motorized ambulances and tricycle ambulances under the National Emergency Medical Services and Ambulance System (NEMSAS), ensuring timely response and care for patients during emergencies.
