The association’s chairman, Auwalu Rabi’u Spikin, made this known during an inspection visit to the school, stating that the institution had received unprecedented attention under Governor Abba’s leadership. This was conveyed in a statement signed by Auwal Ismail Bagwai, Head of Public Affairs. According to Rabi’u Spikin, Governor Abba is a man of integrity who prioritizes the state’s educational sector, and his efforts will enhance the institution’s infrastructure and image. The endorsement was disclosed by the former Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) in Kano State, Baffa Takai, during a closed-door meeting with APC stakeholders from the state held in Abuja. Speaking on Monday in Kafanchan at the stakeholders’ summit themed “Get Strengthened: A Wake-Up Call to PDP Members,” the Zonal Chairman, Yusuf Danjuma Akuso, dismissed concerns over defections from the party, noting that the PDP remains deeply rooted among grassroots supporters. He expressed confidence in the zone’s electoral prospects, boldly assuring that Zone 3 has the capacity to produce a senator and members of the House of Representatives in future elections. Delivering the keynote address, former Governor of Kaduna State and Special Guest of Honour, Senator Ahmed Mohammed Makarfi, urged party members to remain resolute, focused, and united as preparations for the 2027 elections begin. Senator Makarfi assured party faithful that ongoing leadership disputes at the national level would not weaken the PDP or affect its electoral fortunes. FG, States, LGs Get ₦1.928 Trillion as FAAC Shares November Revenue

A total sum of ₦1.928 trillion, representing the Federation Account revenue for November 2025, has been shared among the Federal Government, state governments and local government councils. The allocation was made at the December 2025 meeting of the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) held in Abuja, according to a communiqué issued after the meeting. The total distributable revenue comprised ₦1.403 trillion from statutory revenue, ₦485.838 billion from Value Added Tax (VAT) and ₦39.646 billion from the Electronic Money Transfer Levy (EMTL). The communiqué disclosed that gross revenue of ₦2.343 trillion was available in November 2025. From this amount, ₦84.251 billion was deducted as cost of collection, while ₦330.625 billion went to transfers, interventions, refunds and savings. It stated that gross statutory revenue for the month stood at ₦1.736 trillion, representing a decline of ₦427.969 billion compared to the ₦2.164 trillion recorded in October 2025. From the total distributable sum of ₦1.928 trillion, the Federal Government received ₦747.159 billion, state governments got ₦601.731 billion, while local government councils received ₦445.266 billion. An additional ₦134.355 billion, representing 13 per cent derivation revenue, was shared among the benefiting states. A breakdown of the ₦1.403 trillion distributable statutory revenue showed that the Federal Government received ₦668.336 billion, states received ₦338.989 billion and local governments got ₦261.346 billion, while ₦134.355 billion was shared as derivation revenue. From the ₦485.838 billion VAT pool, the Federal Government received ₦72.876 billion, states ₦242.919 billion and local governments ₦170.043 billion. In addition, ₦39.646 billion realised from the Electronic Money Transfer Levy was shared, with the Federal Government receiving ₦5.947 billion, state governments ₦19.823 billion and local government councils ₦13.876 billion. The communiqué noted that while Excise Duty recorded a moderate increase in November 2025, several other revenue streams, including Petroleum Profit Tax, Hydrocarbon Tax, Companies Income Tax, Oil and Gas royalties, Import Duty, CET levies, VAT, EMTL and fees, experienced significant declines.

Sule Lamido Worried Over PDP Leadership Crisis, Signals Readiness for Alliances

Former Jigawa State Governor, Alhaji Sule Lamido, has expressed concern over what he described as the deepening political crisis within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Nigeria, warning that the situation could undermine the party’s role as the country’s major opposition platform. Lamido stated this during a stakeholders’ engagement meeting held at his residence in Kano, convened following growing anxiety among party members over the leadership tussle and internal divisions affecting the PDP at both national and state levels. He said the meeting was necessary to brief stakeholders on ongoing efforts to resolve the crisis, adding that he had already initiated consultations with PDP governors and the Chairman of the party’s Reconciliation Committee, Dr Bukola Saraki, to explore pathways toward resolving the disagreements among contending factions within the party. According to him, further meetings have been scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday, after which a clearer and more definitive position would emerge. He urged party loyalists to remain patient and avoid actions that could further inflame tensions within the PDP. The former governor expressed concern over what he termed a lack of patriotism among some politicians, accusing them of weakening party politics by abandoning platforms that nurtured them in favour of opportunistic alliances aimed solely at winning elections. Kano Police Probe Mosque Killing, Warn Against Jungle Justice

The Kano State Police Command has launched an investigation into the killing of a resident, Ladan Malam Zubairu, at Yusuf Garko Mosque in Maraba Hotoro Quarters, Kano. The incident was confirmed in a statement issued today Monday by the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa. According to the statement, the victim was attacked and killed by an unknown assailant within the mosque premises. Eyewitness accounts indicated that the suspect was immediately pursued by an angry mob and subsequently lynched. The police said security operatives were swiftly deployed to the area and normalcy has since been restored. Preliminary investigations revealed that the victim’s severed throat was recovered from the suspect’s pocket. Both bodies were evacuated to the Mohammed Abdullahi Wase Teaching Hospital, Kano, where they were certified dead and are awaiting autopsy. The Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, has directed a comprehensive investigation into the incident with a view to identifying and prosecuting all those involved. The police command cautioned the public against jungle justice and urged residents to remain calm and cooperate with law enforcement agencies by providing relevant information to aid the investigation, assuring that all information would be treated with strict confidentiality.

Kano State Polytechnic Takes Step Toward University-Affiliated PGD Programmes

Kano State Polytechnic has taken a major step toward expanding postgraduate education as it hosted a resource inspection team from Joseph Sarwuan Tarka University, Makurdi (JOSTUM), for the proposed affiliation to run Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) programmes in Social and Management Sciences. This was conveyed in a statement signed by the Head of Public Affairs of the institution, Auwal Ismail Bagwai, following the visit by the JOSTUM delegation to the School of Continuing Education and Postgraduate Studies (SCEPS) on Thursday, December 11, 2025. The inspection followed a formal request by the Polytechnic to affiliate with JOSTUM for the delivery of PGD programmes, in line with efforts to strengthen academic standards and widen access to postgraduate education. Speaking during the visit, the Chairperson of JOSTUM’s Affiliation Committee and leader of the delegation, Prof. Bibiana D. Igbabul, said the university received a letter of intent from the Polytechnic expressing interest in the affiliation, which prompted the constitution of a five-member committee to conduct a comprehensive verification of academic and physical resources. She assured the inspection team of the Polytechnic’s readiness to meet all necessary academic and infrastructural requirements. Earlier, the Director of SCEPS, Dr. Ramatu Adamu Muhammed, said the affiliation would enhance quality assurance, strengthen postgraduate training and expand opportunities in the social and management sciences. Nigeria’s Inflation Rate Falls, Lowest in 2025

Nigeria’s inflation rate eased to 14.45% in November 2025, down from 16.05% in October, according to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS). This marks a 1.6 percentage point decline, indicating a slowdown in year-on-year price increases. On a year-on-year basis, headline inflation was 20.15 percentage points lower than the 34.60% recorded in November 2024. However, on a month-on-month basis, inflationary pressures firmed up, with the headline inflation rate rising to 1.22% in November 2025, up from 0.93% in October. Supreme Court Rules President Can Declare State of Emergency, Suspend Elected Officials

The Supreme Court has ruled that the President has the power to declare a state of emergency in any state and suspend elected officials, including governors and members of parliament, but only for a limited period. The ruling came in a six-to-one decision on a suit filed by 11 Peoples Democratic Party-led states challenging the state of emergency declared by President Bola Tinubu in Rivers State, which led to the suspension of elected state officials, including Governor Siminalayi Fubara. Justice Mohammed Idris, who delivered the lead majority judgment, cited Section 305 of the Constitution, which empowers the President to deploy extraordinary measures to restore normalcy in a state where emergency rule is declared. However, Justice Obande Ogbuinya dissented, stating that the President’s power to declare a state of emergency should not be used to suspend elected officials. The court ultimately struck out the suit for want of jurisdiction, dismissing the case filed by the 11 PDP states.
