The Chairperson of the Women Lawyers Congress (WLC), Barrister Nafisa Abba Ismail, has condemned in strong terms the recent gruesome killing of seven persons in Kano State, describing the incident as barbaric, heartbreaking and a grave violation of the sanctity of human life.
In a statement issued on behalf of the Congress, Barrister Nafisa Abba Ismail expressed deep sorrow over the tragic loss of innocent lives, noting that such acts of violence have no place in a civilised society and must be confronted decisively through the rule of law.
She, however, commended the Kano State Police Command for its swift response and professionalism, particularly the prompt arrest of the prime suspect linked to the killings. According to her, the timely action of the police has reassured the public and demonstrated the importance of proactive security operations.
The WLC Chairperson called on the Kano State Government to do the needful by ensuring that all suspects involved are thoroughly investigated and made to face their fate in accordance with the law.

She stressed that justice must be pursued to its logical conclusion to serve as a deterrent to others and to restore public confidence in the justice system.
Barrister Nafisa further urged security agencies to sustain their efforts in tackling violent crimes, while appealing to residents to remain calm, vigilant and supportive of law enforcement through the provision of timely and credible information.
She also called on the state government to strengthen preventive security measures, community policing initiatives and social interventions aimed at addressing the root causes of violence.
The Women Lawyers Congress extended its heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and the people of Kano State, while praying for the peaceful repose of the departed souls. The Congress reaffirmed its commitment to the promotion of justice, human rights and the protection of vulnerable members of society.
