Olubadan-in-Council Nominates Rashidi Ladoja as 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland
The Olubadan-in-Council has formally nominated former Oyo State Governor, Senator Rashidi Ladoja, as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland.
The nomination was made on Monday during a meeting of the council held at the Oke-Aremo palace in Ibadan. The Olubadan-in-Council comprises 11 senior chiefs, including Ladoja himself, who are traditional successors in the Olubadan succession hierarchy.
Tajudeen Ajibola, the Balogun Olubadan of the military line, announced that the council unanimously endorsed Ladoja’s nomination and will forward his name to Governor Seyi Makinde for official confirmation.

The nomination follows the conclusion of the 21-day mourning period for the late Olubadan, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, who passed away on July 7, after spending just one year on the throne.
“We will forward the resolutions of our meeting to our governor, Seyi Makinde. He will then fix a date to present the staff of office to the new Olubadan,” Ajibola was quoted as saying.
He added that the presentation ceremony is unlikely to hold this week due to the burial arrangements for the late monarch, noting that the governor may choose to conduct the formal installation within the next one to three weeks.
Ladoja, who holds the traditional title of Otun Olubadan, is next in line from the civil line of the Olubadan chieftaincy structure to ascend the revered stool.
