Hon. Engr. Sagir Ibrahim Koki, the Deputy Chairman of the House Committee on Petroleum Resources and Member representing Kano Municipal Federal Constituency, has officially resigned from the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP).
In a letter dated November 11, 2025, addressed to the Zaitawa Ward Chairperson, Koki cited persistent leadership crises at the party’s national level as the reason for his departure, stating it made effective representation “difficult, if not impossible.”
”I have taken this decision because the internal crisis in the party leadership at the centre has made it difficult, if not impossible, for me to continue discharging my duties and provide my people with the desired representation in the House of Representatives,” Koki wrote.

He thanked the NNPP for the platform, calling the experience “invaluable,” and noted that his resignation is in line with relevant sections of the 1999 Constitution and the NNPP Constitution.
Second Resignation in Days
Koki’s exit follows closely on the heels of Hon. Abdulmumin Jibrin Kofa, representing Kiru/Bebeji Federal Constituency, who also left the NNPP just two days prior to join the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Announcing his move via social media, Jibrin also pledged support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid.
”Today, in a show of solidarity, I was warmly received by thousands of my constituents. The gathering resolved to leave the NNPP/Kwankwasiyya, join the APC, and endorse President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term,” Jibrin stated.
