Prof. Mohammed Khalid-Othman, the new Vice Chancellor (V-C) of the Federal University Dutsinma (FUDMA) in Katsina, has acknowledged that leadership challenges exist and has asked for prayers to guide his tenure. Speaking during a grand-reception held in his honour on Saturday in his hometown, Bindawa, he admitted that his tenure required prayers and divine guidance. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the reception was organised on behalf of the people of Bindawa, by Alhaji Badaru Musa, the local government Chairman. The vice chancellor further expressed gratitude for the support of his community, friends, colleagues, family members, FUDMA community and other well-wishers. Khalid-Othman added that in spite of knowing top people, he never lobbied for the position, describing his appointment as an act of God. NAN reports the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of the university, Mr Ali Abubakar-Jatau, announced the appointment of Khalid-Othman as a substantive V-C. According to the pro-chancellor, the appointment followed the approval of the council/senate, after its 36th Special Meeting recently held in Dutse, the capital of Jigawa. Earlier, the Bindawa Council Chairman, while congratulating the V-C, said that the appointment was not only a personal achievement, but also a source of immense pride to the people. He added that, “Your hard work, dedication, and outstanding contributions to the development of education and humanity have not gone unnoticed. “We particularly thank you for the continuous support and opportunities you have extended to the people of Bindawa and the state, through mentorship, empowerment, and your commitment to community development. “Your humility and service-minded leadership remain an inspiration to many. I pray that Almighty Allah grants you wisdom, strength, and success in discharging your duties.” Also speaking, retired Col. Abdulmuminu Aminu, former Military Governor of Borno State, urged the community not to distract the V-C with personal requests but to support him in his duties. In their remarks, the District Heads of Mani and Bindawa, Alhaji Babani Isah and Alhaji Muhammad Bello-Usman, encouraged the Vice Chancellor to work toward advancing the university to greater heights. INEC Declares Governor Soludo Winner of 2025 Anambra Governorship Election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) as the winner of the 2025 Anambra State governorship election. Announcing the final results in Awka, the State Returning Officer stated that Soludo’s APGA secured a total of 422,664 votes, defeating other political parties by a wide margin. According to INEC, out of 2,788,864 registered voters, 598,229 were accredited across the 21 local government areas of the state. The election recorded 584,054 valid votes, 11,244 rejected votes, bringing the total votes cast to 595,298. Kano Police, VAI Partner to Strengthen Community Relations and Accountability

The Kano State Police Command, in collaboration with the Voluntary Aid Initiative (VAI), has commenced a series of engagements throughout November 2025 aimed at promoting mutual accountability and strengthening police-community relations in the state. As part of the programme, interactive sessions were held in Rano and Gwale Local Government Areas, bringing together police officers and members of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) to discuss ways of improving collaboration and addressing local security concerns. The meetings also trained PCRC members on their key roles in enhancing trust and cooperation between the police and the public. NYSC Extends 2025 Batch ‘C’ Registration Over Network Issues

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has extended the online registration for the 2025 Batch ‘C’ mobilization by 48 hours, setting a new deadline for midnight of Tuesday, November 11, 2025. According to the management, the extension became necessary due to persistent network challenges experienced by some Prospective Corps Members (PCMs) during the registration process. In a statement issued by Caroline Embu, Director of Information and Public Relations, NYSC expressed regret over the inconvenience caused and assured that efforts were being made to resolve the issues promptly. Meanwhile, several prospective corps members have expressed frustration over difficulties accessing the portal. One applicant, Yusuf Abubakar Umar, wrote on Facebook, “I’ve been trying to register since 4 a.m., but like many others, I haven’t received any confirmation email.” The NYSC had earlier announced that registration for Batch ‘C’ would begin on November 4 and close on November 9, 2025, before the extension was announced.

University of Abuja Governing Council Appoints New Vice-Chancellor

The 11th Governing Council of the University of Abuja (now Yakubu Gowon University) has announced the appointment of Professor Hakeem Babatunde Fawehinmi as the new substantive Vice-Chancellor of the institution. The appointment was made during the 80th Extraordinary Meeting of the Council, held on Friday, November 7, 2025, under the chairmanship of Senator Olanrewaju Tejuoso. According to a statement signed by Dr. Habib Yakoob, Acting Director of Information and University Relations, the appointment takes effect from Tuesday, February 10, 2026, for a single, non-renewable tenure of five years. Professor Adamu was first appointed Acting Vice-Chancellor on August 11, 2025, by the Federal Government. The Council’s latest decision followed thorough deliberations during its 80th Extraordinary Meeting.
