The Kano State Commissioner for Women Affairs, Children and Persons with Special Needs, Hajiya Amina Abdullahi Sani (HOD), has defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC), joining what the state government described as a growing league of progressive commissioners under the administration of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.
This was conveyed in a statement signed by the Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, who said the development reflects the ongoing political realignment in Kano State anchored on governance, stability, and development.
According to the statement, Amina HOD, a prominent figure within the Kwankwasiyya grassroots movement, is known for her strong ideological convictions but has now embraced the “Kano First” philosophy to support the rapid development of the state and the promotion of peaceful coexistence.
The government noted that the defection represents another defining moment in Kano’s political evolution, coming amid what it described as growing public acceptance of Governor Yusuf’s resolve to reposition the state for progress and inclusive development.
It added that the unfolding political shift has reawakened the political consciousness of Kano residents, who are increasingly prioritising collective interest and sustainable development over personal or sectional considerations.

The statement further maintained that the administration remains stable and functional, stressing that commissioners overseeing strategic ministries have reaffirmed their loyalty to the governor and their commitment to effective governance.
Dismissing claims of instability, the government insisted that governance in Kano remains uninterrupted, with policies being formulated and implemented, projects progressing across sectors, and the state bureaucracy operating at full capacity.
It cautioned against what it described as sensational narratives aimed at misleading the public, insisting that the administration will continue to operate within the framework of the law while strengthening collaboration among the executive, legislative, and judicial arms of government.
The Kano State Government reiterated its commitment to delivering on its mandate, assuring residents that it remains focused, undistracted, and determined to pursue a transformative agenda for the political, economic, and social advancement of the state.
