The Kano State Police Command has recorded another major success in its ongoing efforts to curb drug trafficking and violent crime across the state with the arrest of a suspected drug dealer and five alleged thugs.
The suspects were apprehended during an operation carried out on January 10, 2026, by police officers attached to the Jaoji Police Division in Kano metropolis.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the operation led to the arrest of a 25-year-old suspected drug dealer, Hafizu Ali, a resident of Jaoji Quarters, Kano, alongside five other individuals suspected to be thugs.
Kiyawa disclosed that the operation was conducted under the directive of the Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, and in line with the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun’s nationwide crime prevention strategy aimed at dismantling criminal networks and ensuring public safety.

Recovered from the suspects were 2,070 capsules of suspected Pregabalin, 23 parcels of suspected Cannabis Sativa, as well as dangerous weapons including four knives, two scissors and an axe.
The Commissioner of Police commended the officers involved for their professionalism and dedication to duty, while also appreciating residents of the state for their continued support and cooperation with security agencies.
The police said investigations are ongoing and that the suspects will be charged to court upon completion of the investigation.
