A prominent political figure Bala Usman has expressed deep sorrow over the death of former President Muhammadu Buhari, describing him as “a symbol of discipline, integrity, and unwavering dedication to the progress of Nigeria.”

In a heartfelt condolence message released on Tuesday, Bala Usman joined millions of Nigerians and world leaders in mourning the loss of the former military ruler and two-term civilian president, whose death was announced earlier this week following his passing in London.

“It is with a heavy heart and profound sadness that I join the nation in mourning the passing of our former President, Muhammadu Buhari,” Usman stated.

Reflecting on Buhari’s life, Usman hailed his decades-long commitment to national service, from his role in the Nigerian military to his leadership as Head of State in the 1980s, and later as a democratically elected president from 2015 to 2023.

“He was a man of uncommon courage, who led with calm conviction even in the most trying times. His deep belief in Nigeria and its unity was evident in all he did, and his legacy will continue to guide generations to come,” he said.

Usman described Buhari as more than just a leader, saying, “Nigeria has lost a father. The North has lost a guardian. I have lost a mentor and a true patriot.”

He extended his condolences to the Buhari family and close associates, praying for Allah’s mercy upon the late president’s soul. “May the soul of our dear leader find eternal rest in Aljannatul Firdaus,” the message concluded.
